Observation details
The Grosbeak landed on the backyard fence a few feet from the water feature. We have fresh orange halves along the fence. It did not however eat from any of the oranges. I observed it for about 4 minutes. My camera was beside me and I took several photos. Black head pinkish bill, red triangle shaped patch on upper chest, white belly, brownish flanks, brown feathers on primaries, with light black to gray on lesser secondary coverts and greater primary coverts, white rump and black tail. The bird appears to be a 2nd year male. The more I look at the photos, I think it may have taken a bath in the water feature before it flew to the fence. Pictures will be posted.
