Observation details
My attention was attracted to the tree trunk by the repeated forays of the Brahminy Starlings. When I looked more closely I could see that one of them was carrying a small twig and then it entered a small hole in a Leucaena leucocephala tree. I could film one of the starlings trying to widen the interior cavity of the next hole. In some time I also saw the pair chasing away a third bird. What was even more interesting was that the birds would take a feeding break once in a while but every time, both of them took a break together and flew around together. I suppose, this early in the nesting season, it is more important for the nesting pair to ensure fidelity to each other. They did not seem to worry about defending, what seems to me to be a very good nesting site.
