Observation details
Plover in full breeding plumage with jet black underside, white vent and white lower belly speckled head and back. The BBPL had wandered to the far shore of the mudflat by the time I got off work (arrived at 1:25 PM), so I scoped the far side from the top of the hill, along the curve of 900 Aviation, while others kept watch of the near shore. Fortunately, it returned to the near shore of the mudflat about a half-hour after I arrived and was still there when I left. I have a terrible digiscoped photo. This is a new bird for my Wake County list. Thank you to Marc R for spotting it this morning, and everyone who helped me find it this afternoon!
