Observation details
*very rare in Southcentral. First found by E. Weiser, and she altered the birding community and a few people were able to arrive in the ~30ish min it was seen for. Timing is appropriate for an overshoot migrant given an impulse of records in SE AK today. Small dark swift with quick wing beats. Silent while I observed the bird. Appeared noticeably smaller than Tree Swallows it was associating with. Obvious Chaetura, and differences from the rarer Chimney Swift is subtle. The undersides appeared lighter gray, without a stark contrast between pale throat and undersides and wings did not appear to bulge in primaries (although can appear bulged when flared during turning) during normal flight.
