Observation details
Perched on a snag off of the road at coordinates (38.1020168, -78.3243743). Frequently flycatching, giving great views. Bird eventually flew north up the ridge to a higher perch on a dead Virginia Pine, giving distinctive “quick-three-beers” song. Large, stocky pewee with very short tail, dingy olive-brown flanks, white patches on the sides of the rump, and heavy bill. Photos and audio!
