Observation details
Uncommon for breeding in this area. Though I am confident the tallest trees here hosted the unseen nest. There have been Common Ravens moving through Elkwood and other areas of Culpeper all winter. When I arrived this morning there was no ravens calling. It was almost as if I awoke them. After a few minutes of idling they suddenly started calling and moving through the tallest trees right behind the wetland where the King Rails are. The fledgling was begging and chasing one adult parent and then the other adult. Per BNA, raven fledglings usually stay with the parents by the nesting site after fledgling. It is possible there was more than one fledgling however I am only certain of the one I saw.
