Observation details
For a day that was packed with highlights and nice moments, this was the absolute highlight for me!! It started well enough when I had a photoshoot with the pair as they sat hunched in the former Cormorant Tree; to watch their necks gracefully unfurl as they rocked nervously back and forth was beautiful indeed... but then, after my journey to the train tracks, I stopped dead with shock to see one of the Egrets perched on the rim of the hide, right there in amongst the Gulls!! What followed was basically the best photoshoot I've ever had with any individual bird; the Egret knew I was there, but as long as I respected it, it would respect me. The white bird... the golden light... the black background when the exposure was lowered... these photos, I dare to venture, may be some of my all-time best!!
