Observation details
Rare. First seen in silhouette, bulkier and larger than an adjacent Mourning Dove. It quickly flushed from its perch and I lost it immediately, but found it 20 minutes later thanks to its monotonous coo cooo co song. Again it was in silhouette but this time I could make out its collar and squared off tail with a bit of white visible at the corners. It flushed again, showing its dark gray-brown flight feathers contrasting with its coverts and back. It seemed to be spending its time in the vicinity the southern curve of the loop road.
