Observation details
Details: When I arrived shortly before 8 am, I heard it singing on the river side of the trail where Jim Ferrari had it yesterday. I recorded it at 8:02 am. I finally saw it on the other side of trail where it flew up about 10 feet onto a branch landing with its back toward me. I saw the dark olive-gray upper. I waited until it turned toward me to see the yellow underneath, then the gray hood, and finally the bold white eyering. Recording of what I believe was him signing on the river side of the trail. Pam Smith arrived about 30 minutes later. We were able to locate it twice. She has photos. The last time we saw it was directly over the path about 30 feet up and he was singing quite lovely. I opted to see the bird well rather than try for a crappy photo. I did indeed see the bird very well the first time and somewhat well the last time. I’m so grateful for Jim finding this bird and getting the message out and for giving great directions. Look at Jim’s ebird list from 12 May for the GPS coordinates.
