Observation details
Photo attached (poor but at least it's clearly a swift). Obvious swift shape and flight pattern. ID'd as Vaux's based on generally dark brown color (no white patches anywhere), clearly a little paler around the lower half of face, throat, and breast (apparent in photo, seen very well in person), short tail ending in a straight edge. It was foraging with 2 Tree Swallows and stuck around for nearly 30 minutes, long enough for several other birders to come see it, directly over the Coastal Trail just west of Clitheroe. Unclear which direction it went when it departed (the swallows disappeared at the same time), but it's worth checking groups of swallows in the area!
