Observation details
Continuing bird found by Joe Morlan earlier today. I arrived at 37.589206, -122.500618 around 3:20 and ran into Chris (shortly thereafter Malia as well) and promptly we heard a loud series of five "chuuree" song notes, matching what I had been studying while listening to audio in the car on the way over! I set about trying to get a recording and unfortunately got about the worst audio of a Kentucky Warbler ever to exist in Macaulay Library (attached) as it may have moved a greater distance away, I captured a shorter series of "chuuree" notes several times (2 seconds into audio and at 20 seconds) the rest of the audio is either an American Robin singing or the sound of my feet crunching as I re-positioned to try and shield the recorder from the truck that was backing up with loud beeping! Anyhow, no complaints here, CA lifer! We tried mightily to get a definitive look or photograph of the bird but it was not to be during the time span we were there, it grew quiet and was not heard from again for the next hour or so when I opted to bird further on down the trail towards the coast.
