Media notes
Part of series of Laughing Kookaburra recordings made close to active nest. Nest excavated in a termite mound c.5m above ground. Nest had 2 entrances. Four juveniles at first. Two juveniles rescued from ground and reared in captivity, one survived. Third juvenile found dead at bottom of tree. Fate of fourth unknown. Territorial call from adult close to nest, juvenile heard clearly now. Prey items include stick insect and centipede. Equipment Notes: Two Sennheiser MKH 40 microphones in stereo pair 90 degrees coincident.
