NOTES: Cover density: OPEN; OPEN HILLSIDES WITH BRUSH-GROWN GULLIES. THIS MALE SEEMED VERY UPSET AND GAVE THIS TWO-SYLLABLE CALL ALMOST CONTINUOUSLY FOR ABOUT TWO HOURS--MOVING ABOUT IN A SINGLE THINLY FOLIAGED TREE. AT LEAST TWICE HE WAS STIMULATED TO RENEWED CALLING BY 1 MALE(S) THE ARRIVAL OF OR PASSAGE BY ORANGE-FRONTED PARAKEETS; THE PASSAGE OF A PARAKEET CAN BE NOTED IN THE THIRD SEGMENT OF THE RECORDING. THE SECOND SEGMENT IS LOUDER BECAUSE THE WOODPECKER WAS ON THE NEAR SIDE OF THE TREE AND FACING THE RECORDER BUT THE REC BNA: Possibly the "Tsuka-Tsuka" call is heard throughout the recording. CZ 23/02/2004. Other Behaviors: Emit Alarm.
