Observation details
There may have been one or two additional birds. One curious behavior. They seemed to have a "cache" on a pine branch where they stashed nest building material. The female bird spent time early getting moss or lichen from a large tree trunk and taking to the cache. This spot was visited at least 25 times during my visit. A number of times, the birds would leave the cache and go to a spot in a low bush or on the ground by the low bush where a possible nest could be under construction. Lighting before 7:30 am was poor. The birds were active but slowed about 10 to 10:30 am when I departed.
