Observation details
Photos and audio TBA. Westside of the park towards the North, feeding in a banyan tree and in the dense fig and carrot trees bearing fruits. First picked up on through the bird's singing. Very broken, less-melodic than REVI. Feeding solo, save for a few GRCA. Will have to review photos to see if it looks like the same bird Linda found here recently. I learned a bit of a lesson with his guy. I first got hooked on the singing, but didn't think too much of it. The bird was singing very sporadically, so I couldn't get a feel for it immediately. Waiting to spot movement, the bird landed in view some distance away, and when I looked through my bins, the bird just seemed very greenish overall, no obvious whiskers. Maybe it was the light and angle, but I disregarded the bird while it was in a perfect photo op! The bird kept singing and it really grabbed my attention. After a few minutes of tracking and I was able to clearly see the long bill and malar stripes. Photos show well the drab and more muted face and pattern than a REVI. Gotta check EVERY vireo CAREFULLY!
