Media notes
Recorded after dark, with the microphone at the center of a large clearing. It had rained heavily earlier. Several birds can be heard. Loud, rather varied harsh cries of considerable carrying power coming from the forest at one side of the clearing, then from the other side. Recorder was frequently stopped because the bird often kept silent for several minutes at a time. Habitat: Mature rainforest at edge of a crater lake. Habitat: Lake. ML: Subject changed from Megapodius freycinet [freycinet Group] to Megapodius reinwardt to follow Clements 2023 taxonomy. Andrew Spencer, 4Mar2024.
