Observation details
At least three pairs on territories (P), and multiple (7+) birds singing (M) in distinct locals on the ridge. Three birds seen performing territorial & courtship displays (C): One display involved rapid growl calls while leaning their head down and holding their tail upright and jerking it side to side. I also observed a pair bond display involving the birds giving a similar, but slightly more nasally, growl notes while holding their body upright, spreading their wings up and backwards, and fanning their tail out. The latter display was always done when a second bird (presumed female) was perched directly next to the displaying individual (male). During one performance of the latter display, the female lightly pecked the head of the displaying male several times while the male kept performing despite the pecks. I watched one pair adding material to a barely-started nest (B).
