Media notes
This Killdeer calls attention to itself with its call as I walk by maybe 30m or more away. It is difficult to see and I would otherwise miss it. Appeared to have the broken wing distraction display, but it was partially hidden by a crest in the pasture. What I could see was an up-down movement, and flashes of buff/orange. Later it noisily flew in a wide arc, landing 20m or so from the first spot. Horses graze here--seems an unsafe place for a nest. The killdeer has been here for many successive days.
Observation details
North pasture, south field.
