Observation details
A gorgeous brightly patterned black and white woodpecker with a striking, clearly defined red head. Chest is all white with a thin black line between the red head and white chest. This bird was first seen and recorded in the fall of 2019 and over-wintered in Central Park in the same area for a number of months. He started as an immature and has grown into his bold adult plumage. Seen by many, many observers.
