Observation details
First observation at 1207. 2 counted on property. Two sparrow-like birds flushed from the grasses in reach 3 to dead Alnus incana shrubs over the ponds, making 'tip' calls like ATSP but possibly less emphatic and slightly different-sounding. Got eyes on one as it landed and was surprised to note the lack of wingbars and the streaky breast. Photos show yellow lores, confirming SAVS (which I have previously noted makes 'tip' calls rather like ATSP). Skulky and not singing. Flew back down to the grasses and foraged, then later saw one in a shrub over the next pond to the east. Unusually early for SAVS here - a record for the site! Detections (number 15-minute intervals in which the species was detected): 2 on property.
