Observation details
First observation at 1024. 2 counted on property. All adult light morphs. At 1027, 1 RTHA and 1 light adult RLHA (male?) were thermaling overhead in reach 1 at ca 1x Scratchgravel height, then both glided north. Based on time of day (good thermals just appeared to be starting, in spite of cold temperatures), I wondered if these were 'stopover birds' that had spent the night in the valley en route in their migration. Assumed that two of the other RTHA seen were active migrants. Also saw a 'pair' of adult RTHA several times during the survey, interacting with each other in midair and not giving evidence of active migration. Assumed these were 'resident' birds and only counted them once. Detections (number 15-minute intervals in which the species was detected): 2 on property. 8 flyover(s).
