Observation details
I saw a very large brown shorebird was a long curved bill fly down to a wetland and land out of view behind vegetation. I thought "was that a curlew???". I couldn't find a window through the vegetation so I stood in the vicinity for awhile and heard at least one and possibly two curlews vocalizing. When I heard the sounds I realized the large brown shorebird was indeed a Long-billed Curlew. I recorded audio. Later I saw one curlew take off and fly across the Tualatin River. I thought the fact that the bird(s) was using the wetland during nesting season was significant and could indicate breeding. I spoke with a biologist from the relevant agency that manages the property and they asked me to keep the location private. The map link is NOT the exact location of the sighting.
