Media notes
Notes for the first segment: Although this bird had largely finished singing following the completion of cut #BOL 084, at least a few songs by this species was included in the playback that I did for Trogon rufus prior to the second part of file #BOL216. In response to playback, this bird gave a single long-call and began singing consistently. It may have approach slightly but not much. in this recording, the unseen bird was about 30 meters up overhead and apparently in or very near the canopy of the huge tree in roughly the center of the area were this bird typically sang. Notes for the second segment: This is essentially a continuation of file #BOL216, recorded after the bird moved to a tree about 30 meters to the east of where it had been. Now in a tree about 15 meters east northeast of the large tree where it had been in about 25-30 meters out almost directly overhead in a relatively large tree. Almost completely overcast, calm, 82° F (the weather was quite a bit different than it had been in previous days). ML: Subject identified by recordist as Xiphorhynchus guttatus polystictus but assigned to Xiphorhynchus guttatus [guttatus Group] to conform to eBird Taxonomy (v. 2016). -[Brad Walker 12Aug2016]. This individual was recorded multiple times and can be found in the following ML records: 222302, 222304, 222305, 222317, 222326, 222329, 222331, 222336, 222348, 222350. Equipment Notes: Sennheiser powered using phantom power and with filter in flat position and attenuator off for all recordings. Nagra input set at 2 mV / Pa and low-pass filter in flat position unless noted otherwise.
