Media notes
I never did see this bird (it was seen briefly by Brian Daniels, who said the facial-skin was orange), but when I recorded the first part of this cut, it was about 75 meters away and in the mid-levels of good, terra firme forest along the trails in the forestry study plot along the spur road about 1 1/2 km. beyond the logging camp. In response to tape playback, this bird made a silent approach and subsequently became giving calls that were similar to those before playback. Additional playback had no apparent response, but the bird remained silent and we did not see it again. It was about 40 meters away and 20-25 meters above the ground the latter part of this recording. Partly cloudy, essentially calm (at least within the forest), 82° F. Equipment Notes: Sennheiser powered using phantom power and with filter in flat position and attenuator off for all recordings. Nagra input set at 2 mV / Pa and low-pass filter in flat position unless noted otherwise.
