Observation details
One with Wood Sandpipers at Nsameni Waterhole west of Satara. Seen from a distance at first but still no questions about ID. Roughly the size and shape of Wood Sandpiper, but overall paler and richer brown; dense brown streaking on breast sharply demarcated from white belly; white supercilium; yellow legs; bill slightly decurved, slightly shorter that Wood Sandpiper's. Heard call once when flushed, a relatively deep, short, rolling, "trrrp." I'm very familiar with this species--both visually and aurally--from the US, where I see hundreds or thousands annually. Photographed.
