Observation details
Small adult male oriole that was calling in the Brisbane Box Tree (the tallest tree along the fence of the museum grounds), at 3:15 pm. This tree vaguely resembles some kind of eucalyptus or ash). The bird called for several minutes and despite the fact that we were standing directly underneath it, and recording audio of it, we could not find it. It then flew over to the field of bright yellow mustard flowers and remained there for a few minutes before flying back to the short umbrella shaped tree inside the museum grounds. This tree is covered extensively with pink flowers. The bird dove into the tree and never came back out. This was a small adult male oriole with extensive black on the head, chest and back, and the wings and tail were also black. The rest of the body in between the head and the tail was extensively dark reddish brown. The bill was short and straight and very sharp, and the legs were dark.
