Media notes

Calls and display calls from several groups of birds swimming along the shoreline north of the point. Frog-like quacks (as at 2, 6, 10 seconds) given by the female, flicking her head up as she gave them. Reedy, overslurred calls given by the males, throwing their necks forward and popping their heads skyward at the last second, often as they approached a female, and often while noisily splashing themselves through the water towards her and other males.

Observation details

*High. Several loose groups to north along shoreline, especially around point far to north. Many displaying. Recorded.
