Observation details
The gadwall appeared to mostly travel in pairs. There were at least two pairs. When flying, the bown and white patches on the wings stood out very clearly against the plain brown body. The females resembled female mallards, but they lacked the purple wing design that mallards have. They also traveled very close to the males which suggested they were female gadwall
