Observation details
Great find by Scott C. earlier today (3/18). The last record was also in Bodega Bay in 2002. Seen roosting with Gull flock along the smaller rock formations. Shortly after we arrived a sheriff helicopter flew over and flushed the birds for some nice flight shots/observations. Blends in with the gulls fairly well if the head is tucked in. Continuously being harassed by gulls but would hold its ground. Heard call 2-3 times which was similar to a Cackling Goose, but lower in frequency. See photos for physical traits. Possibly (almost certainly) one of the individuals from San Luis Obispo county.
