Media notes
A truly gigantic flock of common grackles. I estimate no less than 700 individuals flew into the treetops, seemingly filling every available perch. I recorded this as they reached maximum capacity. Likely several hundred more in other parts of the WMA. All seemed to be calling at once and the resulting deafening cacophony is what you are hearing. Incredible.
Observation details
Conservative estimate. 2-3 very large flocks of common grackle moving through the wetlands. Largest gathering of grackles I've ever seen. All appeared to be COGR. If other blackbirds were mixed in they were too few to notice. Video, audio, and some bad photos of the mega flock.
