Media notes
Two Williamson's Sapsuckers drumming in close proximity to one another on Forest Service Trail 703, El Paso County, Colorado. ID of one, a male, confirmed visually; the other was not seen. Rate of drums was two to three per minute for each bird. Recording was edited to reduce wind noise interference.
Observation details
Both individuals were drumming the typical bouncing drum in close proximity to each other. I only got a visual of one. Solid black back, thick white stripe on wings, and red chin were visible from a distance of ~20 meters. Mixed conifer forest; species is a common/uncommon breeder here.
