Observation details
Feeding distantly on the shoreline at the mouth of Sungai Penaga. Similar in size to Curlew Sandpiper but shorter bodied and legged. Slightly darker above than similar-plumaged Curlew Sandpipers. Bill rather straighter and thicker than CS. Distinctive kinked supercilium arching up and over eye from bill base. Very sluggish feeder, feeding much more slowly than all other calidrids present, mostly with head down and bill buried in the mud. Photos and video taken. In almost complete non-breeding plumage, although there may have been some fresh scapulars, hard to be sure at such great range. Edited video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNPmZBllBOw&t=4s
