Observation details
Late. Seen very well, flycatching from the trees between our yard and the neighbors'. Studied for several minutes. It came through with a mixed flock containing warblers, Blue-headed Vireos, and Ruby-crowned Kinglets. Obviously a flycatcher. It was gray-brown overall, with well-defined wingbars. It had orange on its mandible. Strong wingbars eliminate Eastern Phoebe and Olive-sided Flycatcher; lack of a strong eyering, larger size, and darker gray-brown breast with hints of a smudgy "vest" eliminate all empids. Perhaps the same bird that I saw yesterday down by the cornfield. I got a poor but identifiable photo of this bird.
