Media notes
An interesting combination of traditional and "alternate" somewhat "toot-style" trilling. Listen carefully at the 1:03, 1:05 and 1:09 points in the recording, and look at the "squiggly" waves in the sonogram above the adult trilling sonogram at the bottom of the window to hear and see a nestling or fledgling doing a high, raspy call. Perhaps the atypical adult trilling was "coaxing" the young bird out??
Observation details
At one point, heard a response trill at the opposite corner of the bush - first time hearing two adults here! The other bird was heard very regularly for about 45 minutes, moving around the bush, doing mostly very atypical and prolonged trilling patterns, from somewhat typical trills to slower paced and broken patterns, but monotonic, and sometimes almost tooting style. Multiple recordings were obtained. The best, most prolonged recordings have been uploaded. In the second recording, at least one nestling/fledgling can be heard doing a high raspy call at the 1:03, 1:05 and 1:09 points of the recording. Perhaps the atypical adult vocalizations were attempts to "coax" out the nestlings/fledglings??
