Media notes
ruby throated hummingbird resting on a leafless branch of native beauty berry. It feeds on native and non native hamelia sp. This area has a large native hairnet vine covering which has been growing up into the cabbage palm trees. Also area with native Hercules club trees as understory with large beauty berry bushes (easy to transplant bushes if needed)
Observation details
photos of female? sitting on a leafless branch of a native beauty berry bush under live oaks, cabbage palm, native hercules club trees, with understory of native hamelia sp. and non native (not evasive), native hairnet vine has scrambled up the palms, native wild coffee ground cover and native grass spartina bakerii border. Photos through a window surrrounded on other side by native hamelia and non native hamelia. Birds feed in it and then rest in beauty berry or live oak always choosing a leafless branch. I have quite a few bird collision decals on glass near this area and feeder windows; the kind which don't leave sticky stuff behind and are clearish/opaque color. Wild Birds carries them.
