Observation details
Oddly enough, both were female/immature and they were hanging out together. I went out to check the holly bush I usually find them in where I saw a Say's Phoebe fly to the other side of the garage. Wanting to get a photo of it, I snuck to the other side of the garage where I saw two tails hanging off the edge of the roof. After a second a grey head with a red eye and comb peeked over and both birds (the Phainopeplas, as I learned) flew into the closest juniper and started calling. I got a photo (photo tba) of the second one in the tree before they both got too deep to photograph. This means that there were more Phainopeplas that wintered here than I thought or the original two I saw already had babies that fledged, although that option seems rather unlikely. I'll keep an eye out in the holly bush for the potentially nesting pair and around the garage to see if I can find more at once.
