Observation details
Active breeding rookery on rocky island in lake off Island View Hide. White-breasted Cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo lucidus) are considered by some to be a race of the more widely-distributed Great Cormorant. They occur along the southern African coast and are also common in inland waters. These birds were part of a breeding colony with more than 50 nests on a rocky island in the lake off the Island View Hide in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve.
