Observation details
Adult males and females perching in elevated positions - hunting from perches. African Stonechats (Saxicola torquatus) are common throughout the grassland in the Rietvlei Nature Reserve, and are often seen on elevated perches, looking for insects. This male Stonechat was perching on a twig on a windy day, his back to the camera. Another male Stonechat was perching on a twig on a windy day, defaecating before flying off.
