Media notes
Much background noise including ambulances, bushtits, song sparrows, common yellowthroats. Listen for burry vireo song particularly between 7-10 seconds.
Observation details
Singing bird approximately in the same area where the blue-headed vireo has been reported (the blue-headed vireo was seen nearby by David only a few minutes before I saw this bird). I first heard the song, which had a burry quality to it, more like Cassin's/plumbeous vireo than blue-headed vireo. Chased it down and obtained photos and poor audio. The bird appears to be in the normal range of color for Cassin's vireo, with limited yellow on the flanks and near the vent, and the upper parts have a mixture of gray and olive green. Not bright enough to turn it into a blue-headed vireo, and way too colorful for a plumbeous vireo. Hasn't been reported on eBird yet, but I understand from birders present that this bird has been seen here at least yesterday.
