Observation details
Very Rare: second state record. Diminutive dove with scaly head feathers, rufous primaries, and brown blotches on the wing coverts. This individual strikes me as a female because it lacks any rufous (besides the primaries) and is gray-brown overall. The bird flew into the field 9:25 a.m. near where the tractors and pipes are. It seemed quite tame and often approached within 20 feet of us.
