Observation details
Very well photographed. Lack of long tail with white outer-tail feathers and white eye-ring distinguished this immediately from a possible Vesper's Sparrow, which was found in Grand Cayman last year by S & C.Mailer, a first record for the Caribbean. The bird was noticed by Stuart Mailer as it flew up from the grass. This is a rare vagrant, and this is only the sixth sighting since the mid 90s in Grand Cayman. (There was a record of a flock of ten for Little Cayman in 1998. (Ref P. Bradley, 'Birds of the Cayman Islands.')
