red overlying yellow cheek suggest hybrid with Red-crowned Parrot
Observation details
Yellow cheeks are heavily overaid/veiled with red suggesting a hybrid. Orange iris color indicates an adult. The lower mandible and tip of upper mandible are slightly darker than the proximal 2/3 of the upper mandible - Red-lored character, but I suspect that they are not nearly as dark as on a pure Red-lored. Associating w/ Red-crowned Parrot as if a pair. I dont know if this indicates F1 hybrid or or later generation intergrade. Inter-species pairs are apparently not at all uncommon in these non-native Amazon parrots.
