NOTES: (Behav. Context: Bond maintenance. Frequency of Sound: High. Gen. Climate: Dry. Cover Density: Medium.) Male Black-headed Grosbeak was feeding at top of (40') oak, squeaking, singing snatches of song (some resembling Solitary Vireo which was also singing to our right (west). The female grosbeak was squeaking in a nearby tree and joined the male as tape ran out. BNA: Song. Call. mf No signature on this tape; tape ended during recording of this bird. M. Plymire. Other Behaviors: Subsong, Mate. Habitat: Forest, Coniferous Forest, Deciduous Forest, Stream, Riparian.
