Semipalmated Plover
Observation details
On mudflats, directly in front of the overlook area. I was able to get some distant photos of the bird that are suitable for ID purposes; I also showed Walt Anderson the plover through my scope (after 3 PM on my 3rd stop here). The plover was smaller than a Killdeer; solid brown back and wings; brown crown; white front of forehead, throat, and nape of neck; dark mask around eyes and top of forehead; white underside; single complete dark breast band; short bill, appears light with black tip in photos; legs appear light colored in photos.
