like a Green Heron but with a bit of a gray wash on the otherwise mid rufous neck (not as dark as a pure adult Green Heron), suggesting some introgression from Striated Heron genes (perhaps not an F1 hybrid); the short, dark cheek stripe is particular evident on this bird (unlike most Green Herons); photos
