Observation details
Many Storm-Petrels in the area directly around Alijos Rocks, mostly Leach’s SP. One bird flying close to boat was smaller and darker than the white-rumped Leach’s, and had an extensive white rump patch that extended almost to the tip of the tail. I was able to view the bird at close range in my bins at one point as it flew up the starboard side of the boat at approx.. 50-75 feet, and another time with the naked eye as it was 25 feet directly behind the boat. May have been more than one WRSP present, but I was generally preoccupied with wahoo fishing. Photo.
