Observation details
Found yesterday by Olyver Zahn. Very Ross's-like "blue goose" with rounded head, fairly short bill with bluish base - and significantly smaller than associated Canada Geese. The bill seems too petite for pure Snow Goose, but not stubby enough for pure Ross's. Minimal grin patch, but present. The face shows the yellowish smudges more typical Snow goose, but the neck is pure white. The bird has white wing coverts which fit better for dark Ross's, as depicted in Sibley. If it's a pure Goose, it would be a Ross's, but my understanding is that dark morph Ross's in the lower 48 is virtually unheard of. Will add photos.
