Observation details
Conservative. Scattered over lake in various groupings. In my experience, this number is not unusual for this species at this location. I have found the largest number of the birds concentrate in the southwest part of the lake just south of the Recreation Center where the beach is very narrow and forms a little point beyond which the COME gather. And this day was no different. In the first picture below there are at least 70 COME with many others in front and in back of the framed picture Also, in the background along the shore there are more COME mixed in with CAGO and gulls. In addition, COME were scattered throughout the rest of the lake. My guess is that were probably at least 150 COME on the lake during my time there today. Next time I visit this lake I plan to make a systematic and reasonably accurate count of the COME.
