Observation details
A hatch year Purple Gallinule was found in the parking lot of Loll Designs in Duluth, MN 55807 (near the St. Louis river) by Amy and Mike Kolodge on Friday, Oct. 23 (early evening). It appeared to have hit one of their windows so they brought it to Wildwoods Wildlife rehabilitation center the following day. The purple gallinule was a little wobbly at first, and emaciated, but stabilized quickly and clearly enjoyed its mealworms! After a positive identification, it was sent down to Wildlife Rescue Center (WRC) in the Twin Cities on Tues. Oct. 27 and admitted at 9:18 p.m. WRC will be transporting the gallinule to the Clinic of the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) in Sanibel Island, FL to be released asap.
