HEAVY bill, large spots on the back, tame, calls unlike any whimbrel I've heard. But apparently white rump when flew, and no apparent cinnamon wash to the wing/tail/rump/etc.
Observation details
Single bird close views. Lots of photos. Flew off showing very white rump, unusual for local whimbrel and bristle-thighed curlew, and called which sounded nothing like whimbrel. Was it a bristle thighed? then returned a bit later, loud call somewhat like a grey plover, very close, nice photos - see below. Looks good for Bristle-thighed to me.
